Defeating the Giants

Is there something that you can’t do or have tried to do and you failed miserably?  Have you ever stepped out on faith after receiving a word from God and things did not turn out as you had hoped?  Discouragement, fear and rejection are just some of the tools that Satan uses to stop us from achieving our destiny. Remember the story of David and Goliath?  David faced Goliath with courage because he did not focus on Goliath’s size; David focused on the size of his God.

David was fully convinced that this battle was not his but the Lord’s.  David remembered his past victories and he had faith that since God had given him the victory over his enemies in the past, God would do it again.  David found strength in the Lord his God and because David stood up to what looked like an impossible situation and God proved Himself once again, everyone around him saw that David’s God was real.

Face the giants in your life in the same manner that David did.  Run towards your giant believing that God is on your side and it is His power that will cause you to be an overcomer.  Don’t listen to any negative thoughts but be confident that if God be for you, who can be against you?  Remember what God has done for you in the past.  Pray for strength.  Make God the priority in your life.  Become focused on the power of your God and not on the size of your giant.  Be persistent and never give up. Kill that giant you are facing so that you won’t have to deal with him again.  Fight the good fight of faith.  There is a great cloud of witnesses who have already gone on before you who fought their giants and won.  Your victory just might be the inspiration that someone coming behind you needs to face their giant.

Today

Today is a new day.  We won’t ever be able to re-live yesterday, and tomorrow isn’t here; all we have is today!  Let’s make the most of it. I’m so grateful that God has given us His love, His strength and His power to live a victorious life.  We don’t have to be bound by sin, by anger, by bitterness, by unforgiveness or addictions of any kind.  The power of God within us frees and redeems us if we just turn it over to Him. Jesus came to give us life and life more abundantly. (John 10:10).  Let go of anything that is hindering you from enjoying the love and peace that God has planned for you.

If I don’t get a chance later, or forget to tell you “Happy Mothers Day”!  “The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish pulls it down with her hands.” (Proverbs 14:1).

Love

I have been blessed with a wonderful husband who adores me (ha, ha).  I have an ambitious son who I know will accomplish great things; and I have a beautiful and gifted daughter who lights up a room whenever she enters.

 As I reflect upon Easter, I can’t help but realize how much God loves His children. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16).  Because of the Cross, our destiny has been sealed, and we can face tomorrow without fear.

Diva Pajama Party

Every one who knows me knows that I love to have fun.  I also love to laugh.  I also love to eat.  I also love to spend time with my friends.  Imagine doing all that at one time.

On Friday evening, April 1^st, from 7:30 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. the North Church will be hosting a Diva Pajama Party.  Come join us for what I know will be a time of great fun and fellowship. Did I mention that it's free?  This will be a time for us girls to sit around in our PJ’s and talk – really talk.  Bring a snack for yourself but I would not plan on napping.  We will be having a ball.  The Bible says that a merry heart does good like a medicine.  So join me and the ladies at the North Church.  All ‘divas’ are welcome!

Refreshing Times

Last week we had a wonderful time with the COTRI Board members at Crested Butte, Colorado.  We went skiing, snowmobiling and enjoyed all the activities that require snow, snow and more snow.  We cooked, ate, clean up after ourselves, ate, played game and ate some more.  Thank God we all returned home with no broken bones and with relationships that were deepened.  I'm looking forward to our next adventure.

 

 

A True Friend

As a Mom, how my kids go, so do I.  When they are happy, life is good.  When they are facing challenges, I’m facing those challenges every step of the way with them.

Recently, my daughter got to experience something that I believe every person has faced, including Jesus, and that is when you think you have a friend and they betray you.  Betrayal hurts.  It’s during times like these we often ask why me? 

God wants us to learn from every circumstance we face in life.  Who better to help someone else who is facing the same situation than you – you who have experienced the pain, walked through it and have learned from it.  You can minister to someone else and honestly feel their pain.  People are not perfect but one very important lesson God wants us to learn is how to forgive.  We can learn what kind of friend to be to others; we can learn what a friend should and should not do, and these hard lessons will serve us well for the rest of our lives.  “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?  How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?  You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” Matthew 7:3-5. 

Proverbs 18:24 says “A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”  Jesus is that friend – a friend who not only will always be with you but he will never reject you.   Let’s not just go through our challenges, but let’s grow through them and become the person our Heavenly Father wants us to be.

Moms, your natural instinct is to fight for your kids, fight their fights, but this will not develop them.  God has a plan for our children, and in the same manner you had to learn how to respond positively to negative situations, your children must learn to do the same.  You will hurt for them, but allow them to grow in and experience the love and grace of God for themselves.

Changes Will Happen

Snowing on Sunday and sunny on Tuesday.  What a difference a day (or two) makes.  You might be facing some tough situations, but don't lose hope.  Take one day at a time.

Don't grow tired of doing what is right because at the right time you will reap if you don't give up!(Galatians 6:9).

My Prayer For 2011

As 2010 closes, I want to say thank you for your kindness towards my family and to myself.  My prayer for 2011 is we will take the good from the past and apply it, and take the bad to learn from it, and never repeat it!  May 2011 be the fulfillment of many of your dreams. God Bless.

Live to Give

A friend of mine has a great song that I want to share.  The Christmas season celebrates and speaks of new life.  That life was shared, spent and sacrificed for mankind.  It is in giving that one lives.  Share your gift and live the meaning of Christmas.

God's Gift To You

Is the pressure from this holiday season causing you to feel a little weary because you may not be able to do all that you want to do for everyone in your life?  Galatians 6:9 tells us not to be weary in doing what is right because in due season we will reap if we faint not.  I believe in miracles.  The birth of Jesus Christ was a miracle.  Mary received a promise from God at a time in her life when it looked impossible but she held on to it.  We must do the same.  Don’t give up on God or his promises to you.  Be strong, unmovable.  God’s grace is sufficient and it will carry you through the tough times that will surely come to steal your peace and joy.  Believe God for the miraculous.  God has a plan to get you out of your current circumstances no matter what it looks like because nothing is impossible with God.  God loves you.  Keep your eyes upon him and enjoy his gift to you – his Son, Jesus Christ – the real reason for this season.
